Previously,, we posted about Buerger’s Disease.
As mentioned, Buerger’s disease (also known as thromboangiitis obliterans) primarily affects blood vessels in the arms, legs, and feet. We recently fit a client with Buerger’s disease with custom-made orthotics. This client’s right foot was relatively healthy, while the toes on the left foot had to be amputated a few years ago. This client had been suffering from discomfort and pain on the bottom of both feet, especially when standing for long periods of time. We designed a soft, custom-made orthotic with a toe filler to help reduce the foot from sliding and to help prevent excessive shoe creasing.
From the moment the client tried the orthotics, he was very happy with the results. Although this is the first time I’ve ever heard of or seen this disease, I did some research and we were able to come up with a treatment plan to help give this client some relief.
If you aren’t sure if custom-made orthotics are for you, give us a call! We’d be more than happy to chat with you and come up with a plan. Our orthotics are not one size fits all. We are always willing to use our creative brain to come up with new and creative ideas that can work for you and your feet.
