Teachers have had so many changes in the workplace—standing to sitting and back to standing again and it’s tough on their feet and legs. As you head back to class, and back to standing all day, it’s important to have comfortable shoes on your feet! Here are a few things to look for in shoes as you head back to school.
- Thick, cushioned sole to absorb shock better and more comfortable for standing on the hard floors
- Round toe to reduce pinching of the toes as your foot swells all day
- Firm heel counter or blackstrap to hold heel in place and provide support
- Wedged or low, chunky heel if you must wear a heeled shoe
- Shoes that fit properly on both feet
- If you are putting your orthotics into your shoes, then look for an insole of at least 2-3mm thick that can be removed
